Where to begin. I'm a first-time home buyer that has no experience with real estate or what to look for in a home. My parents bought their home 30 years ago in a completely different time, market, and price point, so I had virtually no one in my life that could give advice or relate to what I was trying to do. I've spent all of 7 days in Austin before deciding I wanted to move here and buy my home, so I knew nothing about the neighborhoods. And I arrived here in mid-February, in the midst of what must be one of the most competitive housing markets of all time. The stress associated with the decision to move and buy here was unavoidable, but I couldn't imagine living anywhere else and I'd worked too hard to buy a place to just throw up my hands and give up now. I honestly can't imagine having done this with anyone other than John Dunham. He is knowledgeable, responsive, and more importantly honest and trustworthy. He was looking into every nook and cranny, pointing out things I never would've considered. I can tell you there were even times he talked me out of an offer or told me to offer less. But when we found the right opportunity we were able to get both creative and aggressive with the offer, and I landed a place I love within about a month's time. It's a literal dream come true. I don't write reviews often but choosing a real estate agent is such a critical financial and life decision. I hope my review helps someone have the experience I had.
